Walter Sheets age 78

A long time resident of Ingleside, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010. He was born September 23, 1931 in Danville, IL to Walter and Mildred (nee Kiger) Sheets.

Walter was superintendent at Gavin School District for 21 years, served on the board for the Special Education District of Lake County, a school board member of Grant Community High School, education reviewer for the National Head Start Program. He also worked as a ranger at Yellowstone National Park.

Walter loved education, traveling, golfing, and hunting. He was a referee, coach, and umpire. He enjoyed anything having to do with children.

Walter is survived by his beloved wife Shirley (nee Keever) Sheets, his dear children Jill Sheets-Hoffman, Curtis (Rose) Sheets, Sydnee (Jim) Gortva, his loving grand children Melissa (Bo) McCart, Jennifer (Janson) Luedtke, Steven Sheets, his great-grandchild Maddie McCart, and his Brother Richard Sheets of Ohio.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Rita White.

Visitation will be Friday July 16, 2010 from 4-9 pm and again on Saturday July 17, 2010 from 9:00 am till the start of service at 11 am at K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Road (one block west of Route 12,
