Peterson
May 27, 1918 – April 18, 2012
Vera S. Peterson, a former longtime resident of Ingleside, IL, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2012. She was born on May 27, 1918 in Chicago to Michael and Emily (nee Illich) Shulich.
She moved to Ingleside in 1952 and became a permanent resident in 1958. Vera was an active member of St. Bede Catholic Church, Mother's Club, Ladies Sodality (now the Women's Club). She received many awards from Catholic Charities for her work with Meals on Wheels and driving cancer patients to their treatments in Waukegan. She was an avid bowler and also enjoyed playing cards and doing crafts, cooking and baking for her family and friends and traveling to Italy twice, Mexico, Greece, Spain, Alaska, Hawaii and Ireland. She was also a Lake County Election Judge. She worked as a waitress and food service manager for Wards at the Waukegan and Old Orchard locations. She had also worked for Ed Fojtik in Fox Lake at the Pharmacy for 2 years.
Vera will be deeply missed by her dear children, Kathleen (Michael) Ferrigan of Sterling, IL; Susan (Joseph) Brell of Lindenhurst, IL; her daughter-in-law Pamelyn Massarsky-Peterson of Skokie; her grandchildren Kristin Peterson of Skokie; Andrew Peterson of San Francisco, CA; Gretchen Peterson of Berwyn; Erik (Kim) Peterson of Arlington Heights; Tim (Ann) Ferrigan of Houston, TX; Kevin (Angela) Ferrigan of DeKalb; Colleen (David) Kuszynski of Batavia; Michael (Laura) Ferrigan of Fox Lake; Sean Brell of Spring Grove; Jennifer Brell of Bloomingdale and Amy Brell of Lindenhurst; and by her nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles J. Peterson, with whom she was united in marriage on June 20, 1936 in Chicago, her son David Peterson on Nov. 10, 2002; her sisters, Nada Rashovich and Diana Sausser; her brothers, Nicholas, Walter and Richard.
