Thomas "Doc" Fowler, 63 of Johnsburg, Illinois passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

Tom was born March 29, 1961 in Harvard, Illinois to Thomas and Arlene Fowler.  Tom graduated from Johnsburg High School in 1980. He was a proud member of the 1978-1979 sectional championship basketball team and the Johnsburg High School Athletic Hall of Fame.  For many years Tom refereed junior high and high school basketball along-side his father throughout McHenry County.  Tom was a lifelong member of the St. John's Catholic Order of Foresters Court #96.  He served as the head scorekeeper at the Catholic Order of Foresters' annual basketball tournament for decades and was a proud member of it's hall of fame. Tom was a member of the 1986 Hiller and Hamm Class B national championship USSSA softball team.

Tom worked many years as a custodian in Johnsburg schools, Crystal Lake schools, and at Marian Central High School. Later in life, Tom found his passion working in the restaurant industry.  He was a fixture at Stucky's, Mary's Hideaway and The Sand Bar and Island Grill.

Tom is survived by his sister Nancy (Scott) Valentin, brother Jeff Fowler and sister Karen (Chris) Barbian; nephews Ryne (Rachel) Valentin and Kevin Valentin, nephew Nathan Barbian and niece Caitlyn Barbian. He is also survived by great-nieces Harper, Ava and Mae Valentin, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Tom is preceded in death by his mother Arlene and father Thomas.

A celebration of Tom's life will be held at 3 pm, Friday, September 27, 2024 at the Johnsburg Community Club, 2315 W. Church Street, Johnsburg, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "Johnsburg High School".  Please send the donation to Johnsburg High School, Attn: Athletic Director Casey Duval, 2002 W. Ringwood Road, Johnsburg, IL 60051. Please make a note on the donation that it should be directed to the JHS Athletic Hall of Fame.
