Terry Allen, 64, of Fox Lake, formerly of Waukegan, passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 2, 2016, at his home.

He was born December 20, 1951, in Evanston, to the late Philip and Marie (nee McLellan) Allen.  Terry went on to serve in the Air Force during Vietnam in the 35th SPS K-9 unit as a dog handler.

Terry worked for the State of Illinois at the Ann Kiley Developmental Center providing daily care for the residents, retiring in 2012 after 23 years of service.  Terry loved to fish, travel and read and he was a lifelong Chicago Blackhawks fan.

A friend to all who knew him, he is survived by his siblings, Philip (Barbara), Nancy (Clark) Farrell, and Patricia Allen; and nieces and nephews, Deborah (John), Christopher, Julie (Stephen), Pamela (Dave), Robert (Jana), Tammie, Allison and James (Katie).

In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his brother, James Allen.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday, September 9, with memorial service beginning at 7 p.m. at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Terry's name may be made to the veteran charity of your choice.
