Starlene May Ewell, 60, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 12th, 2026 at the Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital with family by her side. Starlene was born May 15th, 1966, from her loving mother, Helen Sullivan, and father, Thomas Pritchett, in Hutchinson Kansas.

She is survived by her siblings, Tom Pritchett (Juile Pritchett), Guylene Williams (Tony Williams), and Alfred Pritchett; her children, Garrett Handler and Isaiah Ewell; and her granddaughter, Bailey Handler.

Starlene graduated from Larkin High School and lived on to thrive as a caregiver, CNA instructor, friend, sister, mother, and grandmother--all while doing her very best to better the lives of everyone she met.  No one who met Starlene could forget her undying fighting spirit to take care of others, her never-ending love for those close to her, and her ability to make the best out of the worst of situations.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 26th, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at COLONIAL FUNERAL HOME, 591 Ridgeview Dr., McHenry.  The funeral service will begin at 12 p.m., followed by her burial at Woodland Cemetery, McHenry.
