Sophie Hansen (nee Blaskowski), 94, of Ingleside, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 27, 2017, at home surrounded by family.

She was born June 5, 1922, in Hawkins, Wisconsin, to the late Julia (nee Swerczynski) and Frank Blaskowski.

Sophie owned, operated, and was groomer of Kai Hansen's Boarding Kennels on Brandenburg Road in Ingleside.  After selling the kennel, she worked at Ace Hardware in Fox Lake, Illinois.  At 80 years old, she was crowned Senior Queen of Lake County.

One of the joys of Sophie's life was dancing.  Many days or nights you would find her with family or friends dancing the polka, waltz, cha cha, or twist!

Sophie is survived by children, Christine (Durwood) Layton, Kai Gary Hansen, Elsa (Robert) Heiderman, and Joyce (the late Leroy) Gowlovech; grandchildren, Woody (Amy), Gary (Kelley) and Russell (Caitlin) Layton, Arek (Heather Jagman) and Karl Dreyer, Kai David (Tara) and Ian (Samantha) Hansen, Ryan and Meghan Heiderman, Corrine Campise, Carrie (Bert) Wagner, and Mark (Chris) Gowlovech; 28 great grandchildren (ranging from three to 30 years old); and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kai Hansen; beloved daughter, Julia Hansen; and siblings, Jacob (Clara), Isadore, and Leo (Gladys) Blaskowski, and Regina (Frank) Plaza.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, April 29, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Parish, Lake Zurich, Illinois.  The inurnment was private.
