Shirley Settles (nee Kaiser), 82

Shirley Settles (nee Kaiser), 83, a resident of McHenry for 28 years and formerly of Fox Lake passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family on Monday, September 13, 2010.

She was born on November 23, 1927 to Peter and Gertrude (nee Brown) Kaiser in Chicago.

Shirley was well loved by all who knew her. She was the former owner and operator of Settle Inn Steakhouse in Fox Lake. She loved caring for her family, gardening, playing cards and slots.

Shirley married her late husband, William S. Settles, in Chicago on July 3, 1946 and had celebrated over 55 years of married life.

Shirley will be deeply missed by her children William (Wilma) Settles, Robert (Laurel) Settles, Thomas (Sharon) Settles, Kathy (Gary) Struck, Pam (Tom) Peters and Annalisa (Tom) Barrie; her grandchildren, Ryan, Lauralee , J.T. (Carrie), Steven, Molly, Josh (Sarah), Matt, Becky, Thomas and Grace; her great-grandchildren Gabby, Ben and Will; and her siblings Betty, Dolores, Bob, Charlotte, Mickey and Dolly as well as many nieces and nephews, especially Marla (Alain).

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Marian and by her loving husband, William S. Settles

Visitation will be held at K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Road in Fox Lake, on Thursday, September 16, 2010 from 4 PM to 8 PM as well as Friday, September, 17 from 9 AM to 10 AM with the service at 10 AM.

Interment at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Johnsburg, IL.
