Ruth T. Nick (nee Clarkens), 91, of McHenry, formerly of Ingleside, Skokie, Morton Grove, and Wheeling, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Fair Oaks Health Care Center, Crystal Lake.

She was born January 1, 1925, to the late William E. and Theresa (nee Betz) Clarkens, and married the late Raymond Nick November 25, 1950, at St. James Church, Arlington Heights.

Ruth was a cherished member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Antioch and volunteer for Head Start in Libertyville.  Very active in the Fox Lake Lions Club, Ruth was the former chaplain, chairwoman of the Health and Welfare committee, co-chairwoman and organizer of the annual Flower Show, Lioness of the Year, and recipient of the Melvin Jones Award in 1984.  She also volunteered for the Lions Candy Day and Bingo.  Ruth retired from Baxter Laboratories as a Laboratory Supervisor and was a member of the Baxter Alumni.  Ruth enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, reading, and the occasional fishing trip.

Ruth was the cherished mother of Patricia (William) Koznarski; dear grandmother of Richard Koznarski, and beloved great-grandmother of Jolyn Koznarski; and loving great-great grandmother of Ian Koznarski.  She is also survived by siblings, Irene (the late Clyde) Canovi, Shirley (the late Edward) Glod, Bernice (the late Wade) Winstead, and William F. Clarkens; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by sister, Alice (the late Norm) Knaack.

The visitation will be Wednesday, December 7, from 3-8 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.  There will also be visitation Thursday, December 8, from 9-10 a.m., at the funeral home proceeding to Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 24300 W. Grass Lake Rd., Antioch for a 10:30 a.m. funeral service.  Entombment will be private at All Saints Mausoleum, Des Plaines.
