Robert Eugene Orton, 63, of Fox Lake, formerly of Wheeling, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 8, 2017, at his home.

He was born December 11, 1953, in Oceanside, California, to the late Eugene Bergeron and Martha (nee Schuetzer) Orton.

Robert was a longtime and active member of the Fox Lake Community Church, who loved all animals—especially dogs.  He enjoyed stock-car racing, having raced and worked on stock cars in his youth.

Survivors include his children, Roxanna (Kenneth) Dunaway, Brandy (Jeff Wagner) Orton, and Rex Bruce  (Danielle) Orton III; grandchildren, Isabella, Mia, Thomas, and Jack Dunaway, Jonas, Karina, Grace, and Toby Bendix, and Briana, Gabrielle, and Jacob Orton; and brothers, Rex Bruce (Barb) Orton Jr. and Wally (Jamie) Bergeron.

A celebration of Robert's life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 14, at the Fox Lake Community Church, 25 W. Big Hollow Rd., Fox Lake, IL 60020.

A private, graveside service was held at East Fox Lake Cemetery, Lake Villa.
