Robert D. Jenkins, a long time resident of Pistakee Highlands, passed away on October 18, 2013. He was born on June 20, 1926 in Chicago, IL to Charles and Rita (nee Wunscheig) Jenkins.
Robert served in the Army, and was stationed in the Philippines during WWII. He was very handy and could repair and remodel just about anything. He will be remembered most for the great love he had for his family.
Robert will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy (nee Weld); his dear children, Diane (Robin) Putnam of Lake Villa, Robert (Sherry) Jenkins of McHenry, Donald (Sharon) Jenkins of Spring Grove, and John (Renee) Jenkins of McHenry; his grandchildren, Lisa (Scott) Mayenschein, Kelly (fiancAC. Ray Massie) Lindgren, Mathew (Viviane) Lindgren, Nicole (Patrick) Carrick, Christopher Jenkins, Jason (Stacey) Sabotta, Donald (Michelle) Jenkins, Kristen (Miguel) Hernandez, Stephanie (Jake) Butler, Gregory (long-time girlfriend Nicole Thullen) Jenkins, Michael (Erin) Jenkins, and Steven (girlfriend Lauren Bearden) Jenkins; his great-grandchildren, Samuel, Remi, Rachael, Mathew, Justin, Aliyah, Seth, Robert, Maverick, Bryan, Madison and Bianca.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his brother Charles Jenkins.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 21, from 4 to 8 p.m. and resume on Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. until the 9:00 a.m. prayers at the K. K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd. Fox Lake. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2302 W Church St., Johnsburg, IL. Interment will be at St. Johns Cemetery.
