Robert G. Hansen

Robert G. Hansen,85, resident of FL since 1994, former longtime resident of Spring Grove, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 25.. Robert was born October 13, 1928 in Chicago to Svend and Lillian (Burke) Hansen. Robert was in the Air Force as a young man. He was an electrician for Abbott Labs in North Chicago before working his way up to manager of the maintenance department. He was the only one in Abbott's history to hold that title without having a formal college education. He retired after 31 years. He enjoyed golfing, gardening and fishing and was a lifelong diehard Chicago Cubs fan. Robert was united in marriage to Dorothy (nee Nowak) on April 19, 1952 in Spring Grove. They celebrated 58 years of marriage until her death in 2010.

Robert will be deeply missed by his children, Sandra Jean Rednour, Sharon Lee (Mark) Hershey, Gerald Michael (Linda) Hansen and Sheila (Dan) Kosior; grandchildren, Leigh Ann (Paulo) Veneziano, Michael Van Every, Robert John Hansen, Nicholas Guffey, Dagny Hansen, Patrick (Erin) Van Every, Christopher Hansen, Chance Van Every, Uriah Kosior and Eureeka (Billy) Antis and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, his parents and his sister.

Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 PM at K. K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd, Fox Lake. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 10:30 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church, 2118 Main Street, Spring Grove. All are invited to go directly to church on Tuesday. Burial will follow at St. Peters Catholic Cemetery Spring Grove.
