Rita McDonough (nee Honeyman), 83, a longtime resident of Fox Lake, peacefully passed away at home Thursday, October 8, 2026. She was born November 2, 1942, in Chicago, to the late Benjamin and Anne (nee Geimer) Honeyman.

Rita was a 1961 graduate of Grant Community High School. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, who enjoyed baking cookies, playing BINGO, volunteering as a Cub Scout leader, and gardening and yardwork. Above all, she loved being a grandma.

Survivors include her children, Marty (Renee) McDonough, Cynthia McDonough, Jim McDonough, Jeff McDonough, Daniel (Tanya) McDonough, and Kristi (Walter Kozlowski) Kunish; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sally Honeyman; and best friend, Pat Moore.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 2001; grandchildren, Harley Villiard in 2014 and Tanya McDonough in 2016; and siblings, Ben Honeyman, Marge Pedersen, and Linda Brooks.

Visitation Saturday, October 17, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral service beginning at 12 p.m., at Ringa Funeral Home, 122 S. Milwaukee Ave. (Route 83), Lake Villa. Burial will follow at Grant Cemetery, Ingleside.
