Richard "Rich" J. Boelkow, 76, of McHenry, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017, at Crystal Pines, Crystal Lake.  He was born August 7, 1941, in Chicago, to the late William and Lillian (nee Mueller) Boelkow.

A veteran of the Army, Rich enjoyed regularly walking his beloved dog, Cody, at Chain O'Lakes State Park and meeting up with his friends at the concession stand.  He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed fishing in Northern Wisconsin, especially with his son.

Survivors include his children, Christine (Steve) Meyer and Russ (Sandy) Boelkow; grandchildren, Stephanie (Jay) Scarbrough, Heather Dirr, Bradley, and Taylor Boelkow; and great-grandchildren, Hannah Scarbrough and Ethan Dirr.

In addition to his parents, Rich was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia A. Boelkow in 2009.

The visitation will be Friday, December 15, from 3 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 7 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.
