Richard Theodore Garfield 57
Longtime resident of Fox Lake, formerly of Lake Zurich, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 8, 2013, after a courageous 18 year battle with cancer. Born on November 12, 1955, in Highwood, IL, to Russell and Rosalie (nee Obenauf) Garfield.
Richard is remembered for his loving nature, sense of humor, courage, strength, and love of family. He enjoyed the outdoors, spending time snowmobiling, hunting, and fishing, and dearly loved his pets, Miss Kitty, Tommy Girl, and Al. He and his wife, Gloria, loved viewing Bears football games together.
He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Gloria (nee Resketo) Garfield; his dear mother; his loving daughters, Lindsay, and Lacey; his siblings, Russell, (Angie) Garfield, Kathy (Tom) Contri, Pam (Dan) Mowers, Bill (Melody) Garfield, Wanda Garfield, Donna (Don) Powell, Chris Massa, Chuck (Julie) Garfield, Bev (Red) Ingman, Ted (Sheryl) Garfield, Ben Garfield; Aunts, Uncles, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
Richard was preceded in death by his father in 2007.
Visitation on Friday, February 15, from 4 until the 7:30 p.m. funeral service at K. K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake, and a Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, February 16, at the Community Center of Forest Lake, 23489 N. East Road, Lake Zurich, IL 60047.

Interment will be private.
