Patrick "Pat" Westin, 78, passed away peacefully at home on August 22, 2025. Patrick was born on March 17, 1947, in Chicago, IL to the late Carl Helga Westin and Helen (nee O'Neill) Westin, and was raised in Fox Lake/Ingleside, Illinois area.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Jean (nee Pinkham) and her daughter Krista McCormick; and is survived by his loving children: Nathan (Anne), Nina, and stepson, Erik (Jennifer) Carlson and his cherished grandchildren Isabella, Carl, Liam, Leann, Erika, Wade, Kaitlyn, Heather and Jack.

Patrick was a top high school athlete who after graduating from Grant Community High School went on to play football at Northern Illinois University.

Pat served in the U.S. Army and was a proud Vietnam War veteran. Additionally, he volunteered his time to Veteran organizations and donated to countless charities.

Throughout his life he was an avid sports enthusiast and his greatest passion was golf. He spent a great deal of time at Pistakee Country Club playing the game with his father, children and many friends.

In addition to adopting many cats over the years, he also volunteered at A Place for Hope cat shelter in McHenry, working together with his best friends. Patrick left behind two cats, Kitty and Goldie, who he loved dearly.

Patrick was a dedicated, hard-working, loving father who always put others before himself and will never be forgotten.
