September 26, 1925 – May 7, 2013
Nacy K. Romano, a long time resident of Ingleside, formerly of Northbrook and Chicago, passed away on May 7, 2013. He was born September 26, 1925 in Chicago to Ross and Mary (nee Gatto) Romano and was united in marriage to Mildred G. Chapman, November 10, 1945 in Chicago.
Nacy was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre. His ship, the U.S.S. Wisconsin, traveled to Tokyo Bay at the end of the war during the surrender.
He was a longtime member of the Lakes Region American Legion, Post 703 and VFW Post in Fox Lake having been the Commander as well as Service Officer for both organizations. He was also a Member of the Veterans Assistance Commission in North Chicago, assisting other veterans. He was a machine operator for Stewart Warner Mfrg. Co. in Chicago and was a member of St. Bede Catholic Church for many years.
Nacy will be deeply missed by his children, Kenneth (Karen), Leonard, Charles (Melanie), Jeffrey (Jennifer) Romano and Shirley (Dell) Bedard; his beloved grandchildren, Dawn, Nicholas, Kristian, Anthony, Joseph,Justin, Jordan, Jason, Jacob, Debbie (Bill) Fleetwood, Deanna and Danielle Bedard and Diana (Rodney) McDonald; his great-grandchildren and by his sister Anita Sicinski.
He was preceded in death by his wife, 3 brothers and his parents.
Visitation will be held Mon., May 13, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the K. K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd. Fox Lake. Funeral Mass will be Tues., at 10 AM at St. Bede Catholic Church, 36455 N. Wilson Rd., Ingleside, IL. All are invited to go directly to the church. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights. Please meet at the cemetery office by 12:30 PM.
