Myrtle "Faye" Cook (nee Salyers), 86, of Ingleside, died unexpectedly Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at Loyola University Medical Center, Maywood. She was born July 21, 1931, in Jackson, Kentucky.
Faye, known for her baking and cooking, was an avid bowler until her death who enjoyed spending time with her many friends, going out to dinner, and vacationing in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with her husband.
Faye worked for Sunbeam in Chicago, Chicago Metallic in Lake Zurich, and retired from Baxter Laboratories in Round Lake.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Charles "Chuckie" Cook, Jr. and Cynthia "Cindy" Strickland; great-grandchildren, Jacey and Emma Cook, and Dillion Strickland; nephew and caregiver, Mike Bailey; and lifelong friend and caregiver, Vernett Blair.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Cookie" Cook in 1984; son, Charles "Eddie" Cook in 1989; parents, Clint and Lucy (nee Gabbard) Salyers; siblings, Bob, Hazel, Stella, Elvira, and Mary Lou; and half-sister, Mentadona Turner.
The visitation will be Saturday, October 7, from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake. Burial will follow in Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
