Matthew J. Scholle
Matthew J. Scholle, a 10 year resident of Antioch, former longtime resident of McHenry, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2014. He was born on July 25, 1937 in Chicago to John "Jack" and Genevieve (nee Czajkowski) Scholle.
Matthew was a devout Catholic for his entire life and was a former longtime member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg and served on the Endowment Society Board and the Winner's Circle. He most recently was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Spring Grove. He was also a member of the committee for the Relay for Life in Antioch and also served on the board for the Woodland Ridge Townhome Association in Antioch and formerly served in the Worthmoor Association. Matthew was employed as Sales Manager for Nestle USA and formerly employed by Hills Bros. and served briefly in the military reserves.
Matthew will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Carol (nee Sompel) Scholle, with whom he united in marriage on May 18, 1974 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church; his 3 aunts, 1 uncle and many cousins; his brothers-in-law Dan and Rick (Debbie) Sompel of Johnsburg; his sisters-in-law Betty Sompel of Johnsburg and Louise (the late Edward) Flood of Crystal Lake; his 3 nephews, 1 niece, 1 great-niece and 1 great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita (nee Merk) Scholle, his parents, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Nancy (Jess) Inman.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 4, from 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2302 W. Church St., Johnsburg, IL 60051. Private family burial will take place later at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville.
