Mark Anthony
Graff
December 13, 1949 – November 19, 2021
On the morning of November 19, 2021, the entire immediate and extended Graff Family suffered a huge loss when Mark Anthony Graff collapsed from a heart attack. He was born December 13, 1949. His parents, Frank and Elizabeth raised, four older siblings (Frank, Mary Gretchen, David, Mary Elizabeth), Mark, and two younger brothers (Pete and John) in Downers Grove, IL.
Mark served on the submarines in the United States Navy just after graduating high school and he remained a true patriot throughout his life. Through his service, he earned an accounting degree from Loyola in Chicago. He later found real estate to be his passion.
He married Christine Elizabeth Huening on May 1, 1976. Together they have six children, Colleen (Connealy), Nicholas, Jeannine (Stetkus), Michael, and twins Daniel and Thomas. The family moved from Downers Grove to Fox Lake in the early 1990s . . . where they grew up. Mark started Graff Realty in downtown Fox Lake and built a family run investment and residential real estate company. Through the years, he built, enjoyed, and managed a portfolio of properties that 'just needed some TLC.'
Mark is survived by his wife of 45 years, Christine Elizabeth and their children and grandchildren: Colleen and Lawrence Connealy (Cody, Molly, Cailey, Sophie), Nicholas and Farrah Graff (Abby, Kaylynn), Jeannine and Michael Stetkus (Charles, Thomas, Nora), Michael, and Thomas and Jean Phillipe . . . as well as his beloved Yorkie, Sparky.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law, Clarence and Hermina Huening; his brother, Frank; his sister, Mary Elizabeth; his sisters-in-law, Donna Robinson and Barbara Huening; his granddaughter, Kathleen Elizabeth; and his son, Daniel Edward.
His youngest granddaughter entered this world just hours after he passed; truly a bitter sweet day and testament to the circle of life . . . though, we are sure he hugged and kissed her on her way in.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022, beginning with a 10 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of the Lakes-St. Bede Church, 36455 N. Wilson Rd., Ingleside. An inurnment will follow at Grant Cemetery, Ingleside.
