Marie Brooke

Born on Mary 26, 1937 to Charles and Constance (Visgaitis) Bogdon, in West Hazleton, PA. Died February 11, 2010 at Loyola Medical Center, Maywood, IL, after a short illness.

Met husband Jim Brooke in Washington DC in 1964, and married two years later in Pennsylvania. She and Jim raised two wonderful sons, Richard and Francis. She retired in 2002 after long term employment in the food brokerage business. Always found strength in friends at Villa Desiderata, a Catholic retreat house for people in Twelve-Step recovery. Moved four years ago from Arlington Heights to Rockford, where she worked generously in pro-life activities, a soup kitchen, hospice, and radio reading for the blind.

Survived by husband, Jim Brooke, sons Richard Brooke and Francis Brooke, one grandson Matthew Brooke, a brother, Francis Masaitis of Brockton,MA, and four nieces. She was predeceased by her parents, by a sister, two brothers and two nephews.

Interment to be in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Villa Desiderata, 3015 Bay View Lane, McHenry IL 60051.
