Marie Angela Alex (nee Abbruscato), 93, of Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Lake Villa, passed away Monday, May 2, 2022, at Joanne's House at Hope Hospice, Bonita Springs, FL.

Mrs. Alex was born June 20, 1928, in Chicago, to the late Peter and Rosalie (nee Abbott) Abbruscato.  She married the late Frank G. Alex on January 25, 1947; he preceded her in death on January 24, 2008.

Prior to moving to Florida, Mrs. Alex owned and operated Alex's Pizza Pub in Fox Lake for 25 years.  She was a former member of St. Bede Church, Ingleside, and active in several churches in Florida, including First Assembly of God, Fort Myers.  Having a strong faith, she wrote and published a book of original prayers donating the profits back to her church.

Mrs. Alex was an excellent cook with her grandsons, Jeffrey and Shannon, crediting their culinary skills to their grandma and nana.  Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Mrs. Alex is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Craig) Kramer of Lake Forest and Diane Keysow of Lake Villa; grandchildren, Laura Economos, Randy, Bubba, and Jason Alex, Jeffrey (Jennifer) and Shannon (Alice) Kramer, Anthony Dutze, Krystal (Jason) Joplin, and Alexis Keysow; great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Ryan, Jake, Chaz, Josh, Paige, Sadie, Caeden, Matthew, Breanna, Dylan, Charlotte, Eleanor Vivian, Arianna, Brooklyn, Jaydn, and Landon; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Alex.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Alex was preceded in death by son, Frank J. Alex Jr. on November 28, 2006; and siblings, Joe (Myra), Peter (Shirley), and Margaret.

Visitation Thursday, May 12, from 3 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 6:30 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals & Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.
