Louise M. Jankowiak

Louise M. Jankowiak, a longtime resident of Lake Villa, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2014. She was born August 8, 1919 in Chicago to George and Angeline (nee Smeja) Eckert.

Louise enjoyed being a homemaker and was also a secretary at Big Hollow School for 10 years. Louise was one the earliest members of Prince of Peace Church, where she was an usher as well as a member of the Women's Club and Senior Group. She was also a member of Savvy Seniors. She also was an avid dancer, enjoyed travelling and volunteered at Victory Lakes.

Louise will be deeply missed by her loving children, James (Lynn) Jankowiak of Guatemala City and Janice (Dominic) Sacramento (Sykora) of Lake Villa; grandchildren, Lorelei (Kenneth) Calta, Mark (Lisa) Sykora, Nathaniel (Amy) Jankowiak, Angeline (Justin) McLane, Aurora (Beto) Tancillo , James Tomás (Flor) Jankowiak, Step-grandsons, Joseph and Jason Sacramento; 15 great-grandchildren and by her granddaughter-in-law, Tracy Sykora.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Jankowiak, grandson, George Sykora, brother Harry T. Eckert, and her parents.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 4 – 7 PM  at K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake and resume on Wednesday from 10 until the 10:30 AM Mass at Prince of Peace Church, 135 S Milwaukee Ave, Lake Villa. All are invited to go directly to church. Luncheon to follow after Mass. Private burial at Ascension Cemetery.
