LaVerna Stone (nee Freund), 94, a lifelong resident of Johnsburg, peacefully passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018, at Fox Point, McHenry.

She was born September 15, 1923, on the Peter F. Freund Dairy Farm in Johnsburg, to the late Peter F. and Susie (nee Miller) Freund.  LaVerna was united in marriage to the late John Stone on September 1, 1951, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

A lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Laverna worked in the white room of her father's dairy farm, and enjoyed giving neighborhood children rides on her pony, Spotty.  LaVerna went on to work at Oaks Manufacturing Company in Crystal Lake.  She loved to dance to 15-piece bands—especially at Nels, the Fox Hole, and the Lake Geneva Belvidere.

Survivors include her niece, Susan (Jim) Geisler of Norton Shores, MI; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, LaVerna was preceded in death by sisters, Viola (Robert) Snyder, Alice (Robert) Wilke, and Caroline (Everett) Thomas.

The visitation will be Friday, August 10, from 9: 30 a.m. until the funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2302 Church St., Johnsburg, IL 60051.  Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in LaVerna's name may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic School, 2304 Church St., Johnsburg, IL 60051, or Masses will be appreciated.
