Whelpley

Katherine M. Whelpley, a longtime resident of Athens, Georgia, passed away on July 11, 2012. She was born on December 8, 1937 in Oak Park to Howard and Katherine (nee Koeppel) Whelpley.
She enjoyed playing softball and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. She also helped coached many women's sports teams at Carthage College in Kenosha. She was a med tech as well as in charge of the phlebotomists prior to becoming chief tech at the Athens Regional Medical Center. She loved animals and donated to the Humane Society frequently.
Katherine will be deeply missed by her dear life-partner, Dianne Mizerka of McHenry; her mother; her sister Jill (companion Carter Tyler) Whelpley of St. Petersburg, FL and Julie (Kurt) Smith of McHenry; her nieces and nephews, Kurt David (Robin) Smith of Crystal Lake; Carolyn (Daniel) Bell of Milwaukee, WI; Daniel (Kristin) Smith of Bolingbrook; her great- nephews, Jesse, Corey, Sean and Andrew Bell all of Milwaukee; and by her cocker spaniel, Maggie.
Many other loving friends and relatives also survive.
She was preceded in death by her father.
