June Patterson (nee Kaufmann), 88, of Fox Lake, unexpectedly passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016, at her home.

She was born April 11, 1928, in Grand Forks, ND, to the late Fredrick and Edith (nee Haueter) Kaufmann.

June began playing the piano at age four, began teaching piano at age 12, and taught piano up to the time of her death.  A longtime church musician, she was the church organist at Salem United Methodist Church in Barrington for more than 40 years.  She also taught music in the Round Lake School District and privately for many years.  Most of all, she loved teaching her grandchildren music and was proud of the legacy she left of many family members and students pursuing careers in music and church ministry.

Survivors include her children, Edith (Jack) Hill of Rockford, Rick (Sharon) Patterson of Spring Grove, Chuck Patterson of Rockford, Denise Patterson of Fox Lake; and grandchildren, Ben, John Zbanek (Kami), Pete, T.J., Moriah, Aaron, and Noah Hill, and Krista and Jacob Patterson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Dennis W. Patterson, in 1977.

The visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Friday, July 15, at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.  There will also be visitation Saturday, July 16, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10 a.m., at Salem United Methodist Church, 115 W. Lincoln Ave, Barrington, IL 60010.  Burial will be private in Bartlett Cemetery, Bartlett.
