A memorial visitation for Joyce Ann Suchanek, formerly Koclanis (nee Cuzas), 68, of Fox Lake, Illinois, will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016, at 12:00 p.m. with a celebration of her life beginning promptly at 3:00 p.m. at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake, Illinois.

Born March 19, 1948 in Chicago, Joyce passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, June 18, 2016.

Joyce was a graduate from the Chicago Police Academy in 1978 and worked for the Chicago Police Department in the 10th District at 23rd and Damen for 25 years before retiring in 2003.

Joyce enjoyed antique shopping and was an avid vintage jewelry and accessories dealer with her best friend and business partner, Julie Pieruccini.  Joyce also loved to spend time tending to her beautiful gardens, crocheting, listening to music, and cooking for her family and friends.

Joyce is survived by her beloved children Corine (Kenneth) Dugdale, Peter (Lynn) Koclanis, Sharon (Bob) Murray and step-daughter Kristen (Brian) Gembara; cherished grandmother of Scott, Rob, Sarah Jane, Ben, John, Nick, Alex, and Julia; and the loving sister of Carol (Ron) Costello and Nancy (Mark) Holzman; Joyce leaves behind many loving relatives and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Suchanek in 2013 and parents Stephen and Casimira (nee Falasz) Cuzas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joyce's name may be made to "Together We Cope", 17010 S. Oak Park Ave., Tinley Park, IL 60477, a non-profit organization ensuring no client goes hungry and providing financial assistance for those in need.  Please make checks payable to the "Joyce A.
