John Stone, 87, passed away Wednesday, October 13. He was a 59 year resident of Johnsburg, formerly of Ingleside. John was born on January 17, 1923 in Chicago.
John was the owner of Stone Construction and later worked for Dick Matt Studio. He was also the original member and originator of the Johnsburg Rescue Squad, former cemetery board member, a 4th degree Knight of Columbus, Council No. 9167, McHenry VFW and American Legion and a former member of the McHenry Moose Lodge and enjoyed fishing and crossword puzzles.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, LaVerna (nee Freund) Stone, who he was united to in marriage on Sept. 1, 1951 at St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg.
His niece, Susan (Jim) Giesler, 3 great-nieces, a great-nephew and 8 great-great nieces and nephews; by his sister-in-law, Viola (Robert) Snyder of Johnsburg and caregivers Fina and dear friend Sister Ruth.

He was preceded in death by his sisters-in-law; Alice Wilke and Caroline Thomas and by one nephew.

Visitations will be Monday, Oct. 25, 2010 from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM with Mass at 10:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Church, 2302 W. Church St., Johnsburg, IL
Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
