The funeral service for John J. Horan, 92, a resident of Ingleside since 1982, will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 13, at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake, with visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service.  Burial will be in Grant Cemetery, Ingleside.

Born November 7, 1922, he passed away Monday, June 8, 2015, at Wauconda Care.

John was a WWII heavy bomber pilot in the Mighty Eighth Air Force, serving in the 466th bomb group, based in Attlebridge England, and flew many B-24 combat missions over Germany and the rest of Europe.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Irene (nee Swiatecki) in 2012.

Survivors include his sister-in-law, Elsie Swiatecki; niece, Susan (Michael) Pitt; great niece and nephews, Kim (Eric) Best, Mike (Ashley) Pitt, and Chris (Courtney) Pitt; and great great nieces, Grayson and Bronwyn Pitt.
