Joan Marguerite Roden (nee Doll), 91, of Lindenhurst, formerly of Mundelein and Fox Lake, died Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at Victory Lakes, Lindenhurst.  She was born in Chicago on July 3, 1928, to the late Norbert and Edna (nee Gruninger) Doll.

Joan worked for many years at the Fox Lake Public Library, and as a genealogist for 25 years.  During her time as a genealogist, she not only assisted families in tracing their ancestries, but also gave talks about genealogy to local groups.  She was a longtime, former member of Santa Mario del Popolo Catholic Church, Mundelein and St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Fremont Center, and a current member of Our Lady of the Lakes-St. Bede Church, Ingleside.

She will be dearly missed by her sons, Kenneth (Kathryn) Roden, Timothy (Alice) Roden, Paul (Sue) Roden, Ronald (Percy) Roden, and Peter (Bernadette) Roden; grandchildren, Joseph (Liz), Carissa, Ken Jr., Peter Jr., Tabitha (David), Melissa, Jennifer, Paul Jr., Joshua (Jennifer), and Johanna (Konrad) Nagorny; great-grandchildren, Xavier, Tyler, Nalyja, Meloi, Roman, and Lucas; and nephew, Gary (Elizabeth) Roden.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Harry E. Roden; siblings, Eugene (Patricia) Doll, Audrey (Lloyd) Metzger, and Geraldine Doll; and brother-in-law, John "Bud" (Helen) Roden.

Joan's visitation and funeral service, as well as the burial in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Fremont Center, will be private.  A public, celebration of her life will be scheduled for a future date.
