Helen I. MacGregor

McHENRY - Helen I. MacGregor, nee Kelow, 93, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010, at Hospice of Northeastern Illinois Inpatient Unit in Woodstock. She was a longtime resident of McHenry.
She was born Sept. 7, 1916, to Henry and Mary (Anderson) Kelow, in Chicago. She was united in marriage to Harold MacGregor on May 4, 1946.
She owned and operated Helen's Beauty Shop in Johnsburg for 16 years. She was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg, the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality, the Catholic Order of Forester, St. Agatha Court 777, and the McHenry Seniors' Center.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Linda (George) Proesel of Lakemoor, Bonnie (John "Jack") Proesel of Hebron, Guy (Nola) MacGregor of West Sacramento, Calif., and Gary (Margaret "Peggy") MacGregor of Wonder Lake; her grandchildren, Steven Proesel of Muskego, Wis., Mary (fiancee, Adam Terry) Proesel of Wauconda, David Proesel of Hebron, Jennifer MacGregor of West Sacramento and Jessica (Jay) Mueller of McHenry; her great-grandchildren, Shayla MacGregor of West Sacramento and Aidan Flynn Mueller of McHenry; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Rita Michalko; and her husband of 29 years, Harold MacGregor.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at K. K. Hamsher Funeral Home, Fox Lake. The visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until the funeral Mass celebration at 10 a.m. Friday, March 12, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2302 W. Church St., Johnsburg. Burial will be in Crystal Lake Memorial Cemetery.
