Harold Thelen, 87, born August 20, 1928, in McHenry to Arthur and Celia (nee Miller) Thelen, passed away January 28, 2016 at Northwoods Care in Belvedere.

Harold enjoyed the outdoors, yard work, working around the farm, camping/traveling and boating on the Chain of Lakes. He loved singing (and could be heard yodeling too). He was enthusiastic about music, playing guitar and piano, dancing and singing in the choir at St. John the Baptist Church where he served in many capacities. Harold was a lifetime member of St. John the Baptist Church. He served proudly in the U.S. Army overseas. He was also an avid reader.

Surviving are his dear children, Sandi Thelen, Mark (Donna) Thelen, Beth (Ron ) Eddington; his cherished grandchildren, Melissa (Chris) Jargstorf, Chad Thelen, Nicole Eddington, Justin (Kaitlyn) Eddington; and by his dear great grandchild, Olivia Jargstorf.

Harold was preceded in death by his dear wife, Lois (nee Pinnow), with whom he was united in marriage September 15, 1951; his son, Gregory Thelen; and by his parents.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, February 4, 2016, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2302 Church St, Johnsburg, IL 60051, where a visitation will begin at 9 a.m. prior to the Mass.

Interment will take place in the Church cemetery following the Mass.

Memorials are not requested by the family.
