Gladys Rogers (nee Grogan) 100, of Elkhorn WI, formerly of Fox Lake, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016.
She was born September 28, 1915, in Chicago, to the late John and Ethel (nee Archambault) Grogan. Gladys married the late Franklin P. Rogers on March 17, 1934, in Notre Dame Church, Chicago.
Gladys worked at Inga's Restaurant in Fox Lake and Intermatic in Spring Grove for many years. She enjoyed creating her beautiful embroidery items and was an avid gardener. Each grandchild brought a twinkle to her brown eyes. Gladys was also a wonderful cook and was known by all for her sweet nature, playful spirit, and kind heart. She was also a charter member of the Chicago Bloomer Girls, an all-girl baseball team, which the movie A League of Their Own was based upon.
Survivors include her children, Franklyn P. (Nancy) Rogers of Burlington, WI, Ethel "Peggy" Krotz of Tampa, FL, Carol (the late Donald) Jackson of Clearwater, FL, and Sharon (Ronald) Nagel of McHenry; grandchildren, Melody (Ray) Rangel, Timothy (Laura) Rogers, and Sherrie (Peter) Puknaitis, Harvey, Michael, Steven, Matthew (Meg), and Bradley (Lucy) Krotz, Kimberlee (Kerry) Pitts, Donald Jr. (Melanie), Douglas (Kricket), and Daniel (Jeanna) Jackson, and Rick (Holly) and Ronald Jr. (Sara) Nagel; 32 great-grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren; sister, Margaret (the late John) Simmons; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Franklin P. Rogers, Gladys was preceded in death by grandsons, Gary Krotz and David Jackson; and ten siblings.
The visitation will be Saturday, April 2, from 12 noon until the time of funeral service at 2 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake. Inurnment will be private.
