George A. Sorensen

George A. Sorensen, 81, of Ingleside, set sail on his final voyage on Sunday, August 21, 2011, surrounded by his loving family, after fighting a long and courageous battle with multiple myeloma.

He was born on July 4, 1930 in Racine, WI to Soren and Elizabeth (nee Rasmussen) Sorensen. He graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1949 and had served his country in the United States Air Force.

He was employed with Jos. J. Henderson of Gurnee for over 25 years and had worked as Project Manager at the Fox Lake Waste Water Treatment Plant.
He loved sailing, working on many projects around the house and spending time with his family and friends.

He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Janet (Nee Drabek-Solar) Sorensen, loving father of Michael (Helen) of Glen Ellyn, Laura of Gurnee, Jill (John) Taylor of Mesa, AZ and Jennifer V. Solar of Sacramento, CA; fond brother Richard of Gurnee; grandchildren Kasey Springer of Antioch and Christopher of Glen Ellyn; and great-grandchild Jakob Pogue and many nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his brother Russell Sorensen, his parents, and by his first wife, Loyolla (nee Dietmeyer).

Visitation will be Friday, August 26, from 4 to 8 P.M at K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Road, Fox Lake, IL 60020 and again on Saturday morning at 8:30 until the 10:00 A.M funeral services at the funeral home with Deacon Larry Spohr officiating and proceeding to the Grant Cemetery.
