George Howard
Kreiling
March 11, 1945 – May 14, 2025
George H. Kreiling, 80, of Lehigh Acres, FL, left this world on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. He was born March 11, 1945, in Waukegan, IL, to his parents, Florence Kessell Kreiling and William Nicholas Kreiling.
George was the fourth of his siblings: Marguerite, William, and Florence. He grew up in Fox Lake, IL next to his grandparents' summer home. After his graduation from Fox Lake Grade School, his mother said they were moving to Florida, as she didn't want to shovel snow anymore. He graduated from Fort Myers High School and enlisted in the US Air Force. After his discharge, he returned to Fox Lake to become a pipefitter along with his brother, Bill. After retiring from pipefitting, he moved back down to Florida.
When it became apparent he needed help, he moved to Lehigh Acres Assisted Living; he loved living there. He was in the dining room for all three meals each day, and he was constantly busy with the lady residents, playing all sorts of games. After a stay in the hospital, and then rehabilitation, he was able to return to his HOME. After a week back, he left this world.
His sister, Marguerite Drozd, is the only remaining sibling; but, there are many nieces and nephews: Lorie Ann, Kim Mallery, Marissa, Mike, Joe, John, and Billy; and MANY cousins.
Visitation Sunday, May 18, from 1-4 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals & Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake. The Air Force will close the visitation at 4 p.m. with the removal of the American flag from his casket, which will be given to his remaining family. The Air Force song, "Wild Blue Yonder," will be played in George's memory. Private burial will be in Avon Centre Cemetery, Grayslake, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in George's name to Shriners Hospitals for Children , PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394-7765, or to the veteran's service organization of your choice, appreciated.
