George Buney, 88, of Fox Lake, IL passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2011. He was born on July 14th, 1922 in Chicago, IL to Nicholas and Matilda (nee Muldovan) Buney.

George was a member of the American Legion Post 703. He also enjoyed gardening, animals, and remodeling homes. George also liked to repair B-29s. He was a Sergeant 1st class in the Army Air Corps.

George will be deeply missed by his wife Jean (nee Swinney) Buney; his children Doris (Greg) Hassler, Dora (Mark) Glawe, Ross Colyer; by his grandchildren David, Brian, Elizabeth, William, Richard, Cherl, Kyle, Cory; and by his great grandchildren Connor and Audrinna.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Nicholas, his sister Millie, and his daughter Roxanna.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 23rd from 5:00 To 9:00 PM with an American Legion ceremony to take place at 6:45 PM at K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home (the chapel on the lake) 12 N. Pistakee Lake Road in Fox Lake. The funeral will take place on Thursday, February 24th at 11:00 AM at Elmlawn Cemetery Chapel, 401 East Lake Street, Elmhurst. Interment to take place at Elmlawn Cemetery.
