October 10, 1943 – March 14, 2024
Gene Holland, 80, passed away peacefully March 14, 2024. Gene was born October 10, 1943, in Iuka, MS to the late Tebus and Grace Holland. Survived by his lifetime "sweetheart" and beloved wife of 60 years, Marguerite "Margie" (nee Cimmarusti). He was also the loving father of Rocco John Holland and Ann Marie (Phillip) Boruszewski; cherished grandfather of Brandy Lee (Josh) Zeller, Anika Lee (Dan) Wichmann, Cassandra (Jamie) Quintanal, Melissa Falster, Matthew (Olivia) Boruszewski, Joshua (Kylie) Boruszewski, and Nicholas Boruszewski; great-grandfather of Jackson Zeller, Anastasia Zeller,and Callan Wichmann; devoted brother of Glenda Harald and JoAnn Bartos; brother-in-law of the late Rocco Cimmarusti and Joseph Cimmarusti; and fond uncle of Michelle, Nick (Heidi), and Michael (Lisa). Gene was an Engineering Manager of Manufacturing, and a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Richmond. Gene was honorably discharged from the Navy after serving four years active duty and two years in the reserves during the Vietnam War. His favorite thing to do was to spend time with Margie. He enjoyed woodworking and could build or fix anything. He loved nature walks, vacations in Destin, FL and Jamaica. Best of all was his sense of humor and infectious smile. Rest in peace, Gene. Visitation Friday, March 22, 5-8 p.m., Hamsher Lakeside Funerals & Cremations, 12 N Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake. Visitation continues at the funeral home Saturday, March 23, from 9 a.m. until time of 9:30 a.m. prayer service, followed by procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 10519 N Main St., Richmond, for 10:30 a.m. Mass with Navy Honors. A luncheon will follow in the church basement. Private Interment. Memorials to Operation Underground Railroad , appreciated.
