Gary grew up in Wheeling, Illinois and was the beloved son of the late Melvin "Bud" and Margaret "Marge" Dehne, whom he has now joined in heaven.

Gary loved doing crossword and sudoku puzzles daily. He was the kindest soul. He loved all animals to include the mythological ones in the books he so loved. He truly was a selfless man; he always put others before himself. Gary was a big kid. He was always the first one to jump in and play with his nieces and nephews; from card games, and pick up sticks, to our cherished family baseball and volley ball games. Always sharing a laugh and smile with the ones he loved. Gary was supportive, non-judgemental, loving, caring, compassionate, understanding and encouraging. A true angel on earth.

Visitation Friday, August 13, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.
