Gabriel J. Lojdl of Ingleside, IL, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born January 15, 1939, in Slovakia, to Belo and Zofia (nee Chilo) Lojdl.

He and his parents came to the United States in 1952, where they settled in Fox Lake, IL. Gabriel graduated from Grant Community High School in 1957. He was formerly employed by Burroughs Corporation as a field engineer in the greater Chicagoland area repairing banking equipment as well as Sears in Fox Lake before retiring in 2004. He enjoyed computers and food, especially Haluski, a Slovak cheesy potato dish.

On January 14, 1961, Gabriel married Violet Fanello. They shared 45 years of marriage until her passing on September 21, 2006. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Diana (Kevin) Whited of Ingleside who he resided with and made sure he received the best care, son Michael (Diane) Lojdl, Round Lake, and daughter Katherine (Dana) Atkins of Gurnee; grandchildren, Michael (Kayla) Atkins, Highland Park, Philip (Nikki) Lojdl, Round Lake, and Robin (Austin Cunningham) Atkins of Gurnee; great-grand daughters Aviana and Lainey Lojdl of Round Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Violet.

Visitation Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals & Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.  Interment to follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville.
