June 2, 1917 – October 3, 2015
Francis "Fritz" Schnoor, 98, a longtime resident of Fox Lake and Ingleside, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015, at Radford Green, Lincolnshire.
He was born June 2, 1917, in Davenport, Iowa, to the late William and Jennie (nee Walter) Schnoor. He married Letra "Lee" McNeil on February 24, 1950, at Ingleside United Methodist Church.
Fritz attended Lane Tech High School in Chicago and went on to serve as an aviation mechanic in the Navy during WWII. Fritz operated the Sinclair Gas Station in Big Hollow, where he met his wife, Lee. In 1954, they moved to Lagoon Service and Marina in Fox Lake and, in the Fall of 1969, they began four decades of operations at the Chain O'Lakes Marina in Fox Lake. Fritz was very proud to have his family working with him in the family business.
Fritz was a former president of the Fox Lake Chamber of Commerce and active in the local Boy Scout Troop—receiving the Order of the Arrow. He was also a member of the Fox Lake Lions Club.
Survivors include his children, William (Deborah) Schnoor of Ingleside, Jeffrey (Kimberly) Schnoor of Ingleside, and Cindy (Craig) Carlson of Grayslake; six grandchildren, Eric (Alexis Cogswell) Schnoor, Jennie (Scott) Wold, Jessica (Ryan Cashman) Schnoor, Brittany Schnoor, and Blair and Brooke Carlson; and great-granddaughter, Evelynn Lee Schnoor Cashman and soon-to-be born great-granddaughter, Frances Anne Schnoor.
In addition to his parents, Fritz was preceded in death by his wife, Lee in 2005; daughter, Patricia in 1955; brother, Walter "Bud" (Virginia "Ginny") Schnoor; niece, Donna Schnoor; and nephew, Tom Schnoor.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015, from 1 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 2 p.m., at Ingleside United Methodist Church, 36325 N. Maple Ave., Ingleside, IL 60041. Rev. Kwang Sung Lim will be the officiant. Inurnment will be private in Grant Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Fritz's name may be made to the Church.
