Frank Jiracek's Obituary

Frank Jiracek, 86, of Fox Lake, formerly of Lake Villa, passed away June 7, 2021, at home surrounded by family.  He was born November 8, 1934, in Chicago, to the late Anton and Josephine (nee Peck) Jiracek.

In the 1950s, Frank served in the Army and was stationed in Germany and Lebanon.  He went on to have a proud, 60-year career in the sheet-metal industry where he was a lifelong union member.  Frank also owned Indian Point Marina (now Captains Quarters) for more than 10 years and was a lifelong, die-hard fan of the Chicago Bears.  Above all, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and loyal friend.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia (nee Dini); children, Laura (Charlie) McKay of York, SC, Joan Fox of St. Charles, Bob (Deb) Jiracek of Columbus, OH, Jennifer (Matt) Clausen of Johnston, IA, Wally (Brenda) Luth of Waukegan, Laura Fraider of Frankfurt, and Lonna Westergren of Wisconsin; grandchildren, Devlin and Ryan McKay, Jake Fox, Jim and Tim Jiracek, Kyle and Grant Clausen, Ariana Rath, Rachelynn and Colton Luth, Tamara (Arnas) Demenis, Brianna (Shane) Massie, and Kaleigh (Landon) Wheeler; great-grandchildren, Liam Penny, Kinsley Massie, Adeline and Scarlett Wheeler, and Lillyana Rath; cousin, Dale (Karla) Kadlecek; and dear friends, Bernie (Rich) Crouthers, Veronica and Lester Rieck, and Mimi and Butch Cruising.


He was preceded in death by daughter, Pam Luth; and granddaughter, Alicia.


Frank's visitation will be Sunday, June 13, from 4-8 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals & Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.  Please wear Chicago Bears attire to honor Frank's love of the team.  The visitation will continue Monday, June 14, from 9-10 a.m., at the funeral home.


Frank's life will be celebrated with a Mass and military honors at 11 a.m., Monday, June 14, at Our Lady of the Lakes-St. Bede Parish, 36455 N. Wilson Rd., Ingleside, IL 60041. Interment will be private.


Per CDC guidelines, vaccinated people are not required to wear face masks while in the funeral home or church; unvaccinated people will be require to wear masks while inside the funeral home and church.


In lieu of flowers, memorials to Our Lady of the Lakes-St. Bede Parish, the American Cancer Society , or the cancer-research organization of your choice, appreciated.
