It is with heavy hearts that we report the unexpected passing of Erik Ullberg into his next great adventure on December 31, 2016, New Year's Eve.

Creative, outgoing, and supportive of his family and friends, Erik was born in Chicago on March 13, 1965 to Axel and Evelyn (nee Larson) Ullberg.

As a young man, Erik excelled at baseball, basketball, tennis, and golf and still played all of them. He had a competitive spirit and a loving heart. He was a devoted father who beamed with pride when talking about his children.

He served on the Fox Lake Fire Department as a fire fighter and EMT up to the rank of captain and as a Deputy Lake County Coroner, before becoming an emergency room nurse.  He was a proud member of the Fox Lake Volunteer Fire Association. More recently he certified as a pedorthic specialist to help people correct foot and walking issues. Since the passing of his father, he has lived with his mother and helped care for her.

Erik is survived by his daughter Jessica, his son Carter, and Annette Ullberg (ex-wife and mother to their children), his mother Evelyn Ullberg, and his brother Lars. Erik was also very close to surviving cousins Larry, Lynda, Lauren, Lon, Charlie, and Lisa. He was preceded in death by his father Axel Ullberg (1928-2013).

MEMORIALS will be Saturday, Jan. 14th, 2017

MASS 10AM - There will be a mass at 10:00 AM at St. Bede Parish Catholic Church, 36455 N. Wilson Road, Ingleside, IL 60041, (847) 587-2251. Arrangements are being handled by Annette Ullberg.
