Elizabeth R. "Betty" (nee Klauer) Schaer

Elizabeth R. "Betty" Schaer, a long time resident of Ingleside, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2014. Betty was born August 30, 1933, in Detroit, MI to LaVerne and Eileen (nee Mayhew) Klauer.

Betty had many passions. She fell in love with ice skating at a young age and was quite good! Her other passions included playing the piano, knitting, reading, gardening, and watching her birds from her kitchen window.  In her later years, she relished the fun and friendship of her Bunco group!  Betty sought many career avenues, from being an assistant to a psychiatrist at Allendale, then working as a successful real estate agent, receiving many accolades. She  then moved into the corporate world, working several years as a supervisor at Kemper Insurance, until retiring.  Her work never interfered with her being completely involved in her children's lives. Betty really cared about enhancing their lives, such as by exposed them to many opportunities to engage in.

An unfilled void will be felt by her children, Dean and Connie Schaer; by her 3 grandchildren; her brothers, Robert (Sandy) and William (Allison) Klauer; her brother and sister in-law, Dennis (Kathy) Schaer; her Step-mother, Rita Klauer; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, nephews, other dear relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 55 years Fred, and by her parents.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 15, from12 p.m. until the 3:30 p.m. service at K. K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake rd., Fox Lake, IL.
