Edwin Stanley Wencel of Fox Lake, Illinois. Born on May 23, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois. Son of Adam and Julia (nee Drag) Wencel. Former resident of Chicago for 39 years, Arlington Heights for 25 years and Lindenhurst for 12 years. Graduate of Lane Technical High School in June 1950, then served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957.Edwin last worked as Manufacturing Manager at Diamed, a division of Illinois Tool Works, until his retirement in January of 1994.
Among the many loves of his life were the love of his family, love for playing football in high school (#48), golfing, his music and DVD collection, puzzles and most recently was listening to talking books from the Chicago Library of Congress.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dolores Rita (nee Slosarzyk) Wencel, to whom he was united in marriage on January 12, 1957 in Chicago; daughter Doris R. (Anthony) Hodes of Spring Grove, IL; sisters-in-law Rita (the late Edward) Wencel, Carolyn Slosarzyk, Geri (John) Adams; brother-in-law Gregory F. Slosarzyk and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward J. Wencel; his parents, Julia and Adam Wencel; and his sister Helen Wencel.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 19, 2012, from 3 to 7 PM at the K. K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake. Funeral Mass will be Fri., 10 AM at St. Peter's Church, 2118 Main Street, Spring Grove, IL. Graveside service and interment will be following the mass at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles, IL. Please meet at the cemetery office by 12:30 PM.
