Edward F. Kelley, 75, of Fox Lake, passed away Monday, February 22, 2016, at his home.
He was born March 3, 1940, in Chicago, to the late Frank and Eileen (nee Parkins) Kelley. Ed married Catherine "Kay" Hansen August 26, 1961, in Arlington Heights.
Known as "Honest Ed," Ed was a prominent, long-time salesman at and former owner of Ricketts Chevrolet (now Ray Chevrolet) in Fox Lake. Ed enjoyed playing the organ by ear—while entertaining his friends and family. He was also a pilot, who enjoyed flying, boating on the Chain, playing horseshoes and bocce ball, snowmobiling, and his Manhattans. He took much pride in and loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Kay; daughters, Colleen (Tom) Fanella, Eileen (Daryl) Kantner, and Erika (Jeff) Hoffman; grandchildren, Nicholas, Sarah, and Hannah Fanella, Jordan and Chandler Kantner, and Jake Cooper and Emma Hoffman; great-grandson, Nolan Smith; siblings, Patricia (Charles) Bentley, Diane (Jim) Callaghan, and Danny Kelley; sister-in-law, Judith Ulbrich; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Robert Ulbrich.
The memorial visitation will be Friday, February 26, from 4-8 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.
The funeral Mass will be Saturday, February 27, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 2118 Main St., Spring Grove. Inurnment will be private.
