Dorothy M. Poremba, a resident of Fox Lake, IL, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2012. She was born on December 19, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois to Bernice and Adam Szerknis. She loved playing cards and bingo as well as participating in spiritual activities with her friends at Lilac Apartments in Fox Lake, IL. She was a long time employee of the Chicago Public Library and Kmart.
Dorothy was a loving mother, wife, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her two surviving sisters Gloria and Arlene and also by her two daughters, Paula and Sharon. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Drew, Karl, Laura and Austin and son-in-law Michael along with many other loving nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank John Poremba who was a Navy Veteran of WWII on the battleship U.S.S. San Jacinto, her parents, her brother Richard Szerknis, her sister Lorraine Gruper, brother-in-law Joe Gruper and nephew James Gruper. A private service will be held with her family.
