Donald "Don" R. Kennedy, 80, of Pistakee Highlands, passed away Monday, November 16, 2015, at Alden Terrace, McHenry.

He was born June 11, 1935, in Waukegan, to the late William and Dorothy (nee Gossard) Kennedy.  Don married Maxine Frances Slovnik on June 20, 1964.

Don was a lifelong railroad worker, retiring as a conductor for the Milwaukee Road/Metra line.  He had previously worked on the Northshore Line. Serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict, he went on to become the Post Commander of the Fox Lake American Legion Post 703.  Don was a fishing, boating, and golf enthusiast.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine "Maki"; sister, Dolores (the late Bud) Olson of Twin Lakes, WI; brothers and sisters-in-law, John (Liz) Slovnik, Patricia (Gary) Znidersic, Nancy Wilcox, William (Pat) Slovnik, Roni (the late Bob) Adler; brother-in-law, Cal Kukar; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his sisters-in-law, Barbara Thrall and Joan Kukar.

The memorial service and inurnment will be private.
