Dominic A. Salvato, 97, of Spring Grove, formerly of Lyons, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017, at JourneyCare, Arlington Heights.

He was born August 1, 1919, in Chicago, to the late Anthony and Elizabeth (nee O'Malley) Salvato.  Dominic married the late Frances Mary Militello on July 24, 1943.

Dominic was a dental technician for over 65 years who enjoyed gardening, dogs, fishing, playing Canasta, and cooking.

Survivors include his children, Anthony (Sue) Salvato of Spring Grove and Sharon (the late Loni Hatfield) Nelson of Arizona; grandchildren, Gina (Steve) Salberg, Matthew (Verenice) and Tony (Jennifer) Nelson, Angie (Drew) Yaktus, Lauren (Brian) Splitt, and Tom (Lauren) Holland; great-grandchildren, Brianna Balsavich, Ashley Salberg, Katerina Nelson, Camilla, Lucia, and Dominic Nelson, Olivia and Lukas Yaktus, Sophie, Justin, and Brody Splitt, and Delilah Holland; and sister, Evelyn Conforti.

In addition to his wife and parents, Dominic was preceded in death by 10 siblings.

The visitation will be Saturday, February 25, from 3 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 5:15 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.  Interment will be private.
