Dolores Iona Tarnow, a long time resident of Evanston, recently of Wauconda passed away on September 15, 2011. She was born on January 3, 1916 in Red Wing, Minnesota to Ernest and Sadie (nee Swanson) Eklund.

She was an avid homemaker and pet owner. She enjoyed sewing and loved animals, especially her poodle, Jack, for whom she cooked special meals until his death at 17 years. Dolores was very active and walked several miles daily and drove her car around town, until she was 92.

Her sardonic sense of humor was shared with others until her final moments and will be missed.

Dolores will be deeply missed by her dear daughter, Jill (Franck) Hansen of McHenry; her grandson Erick Hansen. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin "Ed" Tarnow, with whom she was married for 44 years; her parents; and her siblings Alice, Don and Joyce.

Memorial visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 23, from 4 p.m. until the 6 p.m. memorial service at the K. K. Hamsher Funeral Home ("The Chapel on the Lake") 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd. (1 blk West of rte. 12 and A
