Dolores Lorraine Szumlas (Melcic) passed away peacefully on August 4, 2022. She was proceeded in death by her loving husband of 43 years Joseph, her son Rick and her sister Marian Obajtek. Born September 30, 1937 to Albert and Stella (Wojcik) Melcic, she graduated Chicago Vocational High School in 1955 and married her childhood sweetheart 4 years later. She devoted her life to family and the church and never fell short in her philanthropy. An avid birdwatcher she also enjoyed the company of her many close neighbors. She is survived in death by her children Mark Szumlas, Michael (Susan) Szumlas, Karen (Kevin) Burt and Kathy Olson; her grandchildren, Daniel (Brittany), Eric, Michelle (Kyle), Kristine (Matthew), Emily (Jacob), Samantha (Joseph), Caitlin, Amie (Stephen), Ryan and Ryker. Many great-grandchildren, two brothers in law, a sister in law, and several nieces and nephews.  Visitation Tuesday, August 16, 9-10 a.m., Hamsher Lakeside Funerals & Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake, followed by 10:30 a.m. Mass and burial, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Cemetery, 2302 W. Church St., Johnsburg.
