Diane M. Neiss (nee Freund), 94, of Johnsburg, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024, at The Cottages of Fox Lake. She was born May 12, 1930, in Woodstock, to the late Martha (nee Miller) and Leo Freund. Diane married the late Carl J. Neiss September 29, 1951.
Diane was a graduate of McHenry High School. After graduation, she began her 30-year career in banking with McHenry State Bank, which later became First Midwest Bank. She became the Branch Manager for the Johnsburg office and retired in 1998.
Diane was a devoted member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Johnsburg, where she was involved in music and stewardship. She was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, and was very active in the community through Rotary International and Kiwanis Clubs. Diane enjoyed spending time with family and watching sporting events.
Diane is survived by her children, Randy (Cathy) Neiss, Monica (Rick) Marsh, and Rick Neiss; grandchildren, Ryan (Amy) Neiss, Kyle (Steph) Neiss, Shane (Amanda) Neiss, Kelly (Xavier) Cruz, Michael (Courtney) Marsh, Daniel (Stephanie) Marsh, Jake (Lisa) Marsh, Jourdan Neiss, Tayelor (Casey) Jehn, and Troy Neiss; and great-grandchildren, Gavin, Collin, Quinn, Emma, Sam, Brynn, Kendall, Payton, Sullivan, Hayden, Charlotte, Axel, Lydia, Luke, Adelayde, Aubreiana, Lia, Skyler, and Maverick.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Carl, on March 22, 2017; her parents, Leo and Martha; sister and brother-in-law, Char and Cal Ash; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Norman and Marguerite Neiss.
Visitation Saturday, August 3, from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake. A luncheon will immediately follow the service.
Burial will be Monday, August 5, 10 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, 2302 W. Church St., Johnsburg.
